About
A shop run by
people who read.
Ruth and Daniel opened Endpaper in 1998 in a seed store with a leaking roof. The roof is fixed. Everything else is the same.

Our story
Twenty-eight years
on Mill Street.
We started with four hundred books and two chairs. Today there are twelve thousand books, a café, a children’s corner and a book club that has never once finished on time. We still read everything we put on the recommended shelves, and we still write the notes by hand.

The booksellers
Who picks
the books.

Ruth Okafor
Co-owner · fiction buyer
Opened the shop in 1998. Reads two novels a week and will tell you the ending if you ask nicely.

Daniel Okafor
Co-owner · café and cookery
Bakes every cake in the café and keeps the cookery shelf. Believes a good book should have flour on it.

Maya Lindgren
Children’s buyer · story time
Runs Saturday story time and the children’s corner. Can do eleven different dragon voices.

Theo Park
Bookseller · mystery and sci-fi
Joined in 2019 for a summer and never left. Keeps the mystery shelf and the space shelf next to each other on purpose.

Upstate Review
Story time with Maya is the highlight of our week. My daughter calls it ‘the dragon shop’.
Anna, Hudson
They ordered an out-of-print book for my dad’s birthday and wrapped it better than I could.
Marcus, Catskill
I asked for ‘something like the last one but sadder’ and Ruth knew exactly what I meant.
