Moth Season

In Varos, the moths came every autumn, and with them, the letters.

They came in at dusk through any open window, grey and soft as ash, and settled on the walls and the backs of chairs and the edges of mirrors. If you held still, one might land on your hand. If you were lucky, or unlucky, it would be carrying a word.
