Paper Boats

It rained all day, so Mei and Grandpa made boats.

Grandpa folded. Mei pressed. Fold, press, fold, press, until the newspaper was a boat with a pointy front and a tiny flat bottom.

“Where will it go?” said Mei.
“Wherever the water takes it,” said Grandpa.

Down the path went the boat, past the gate, past the puddle shaped like a fish, past the cat who did not like rain.

“Faster!” said Mei.
“Slower,” said Grandpa. “Watch.”
